Opportunities for Businesses in Hindmarsh Shire

Does your business want to grow by supporting the Visitor Economy and economic development projects around Hindmarsh Shire?

Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to host the next instalment of our Hindmarsh Business Networking sessions on Wednesday 21 August 2024 from 6:30pm – 9pm at the Dimboola Rowing Club. Light refreshments will be available.

Presenters for the evening will include Paul Atherton from Donald Mineral Sands, Ian Gumela and David Jochinke from Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism, and Mark Fletcher, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism from Hindmarsh Shire Council.

The theme of the evening is ‘Opportunities’, with presenters showcasing how businesses can support projects and programs in the region to grow their business. 

Paul Atherton will give a brief overview of the Donald Mineral Sands project, located in between Minyip and Donald, and discuss how businesses may be able to assist with the delivery of the project during both the construction phase and ongoing operations, as well as potential staffing opportunities. 

David Jochinke (Chair) & Ian Gumela (Visit Wimmera Mallee Brand Manager) from Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism will discuss how the new Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism partnership is being rolled out, as well as the opportunities for businesses in attracting visitation to the region. 

Finally, Mark Fletcher will highlight several areas of the newly adopted Hindmarsh Shire Council Economic Development Strategy that are being worked through currently to strengthen business development across the Shire.

Since commencing, Mark has visited many businesses across the Shire and is continuing to engage with owners and stakeholders in the service, retail and tourism sectors.  Businesses that have not already spoken to Mark, especially those that are not in the town business districts, are encouraged to make contact to discuss future opportunities and to update contact information.
