Mallee Electorate Candidates Forum

Published on 22 March 2019

Hindmarsh Shire Council is extending an invitation to all candidates standing in the Mallee Electorate for the forthcoming federal election to participate in an open forum.

The forum to be held on Monday 15 April 2019 at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre from 6.00pm, it will provide all candidates with an opportunity to individually address the audience and then participate in an open question and answer session from the floor.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said “This will be an excellent opportunity for all candidates to present themselves to their Wimmera Southern Mallee constituents while at the same time, it will allow residents to get to know the candidates”.

Cr Ismay added, “The idea of the forum has arisen as a number of the Mallee electorate candidates have contacted Hindmarsh Shire asking to attend a Council meeting to introduce themselves and present their campaign platform. While Council was supportive of these requests, we felt a public forum would be a better option and an ideal scenario for the broader regional community to meet and hear the candidates” he said.

Cr Ismay said “I encourage Wimmera, Southern Mallee residents to attend this forum to hear from the Mallee electorate candidates first hand and to bring along your questions as there will be plenty of time to ask them”.
