YMCA to Open Nhill Aquatic Centre this Saturday

Published on 27 November 2020

Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to announce that the Nhill Aquatic Centre 2020 Swimming Season will be run by YMCA Victoria.

Due to open on Saturday 28 November 2020, the Y advises that “they can’t wait to welcome the community back to their much-loved facility to cool off over summer”.

The opening of the pool will once again provide opportunities for local employment as well as a welcome chance for the community and visitors to reconnect after enduring months of disruption courtesy of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the lead up to opening, the Y has engaged with local lifeguards and aquatics professionals to ensure all is in readiness to operate the pool in a COVID Safe manner. In addition to general access for pool use, one of the first program’s that will be reactivated will be a learn-to-swim program. Local identity Emma Toll will run a block of lessons in the lead up to Christmas, while the intent is to run a VICSWIM intensive program during January 2021.
