Flora and Fauna

Little Desert Xanthorrhoea.jpg
People visit our region for many reasons; its wealth of history, insight into our agriculture, small, friendly towns. But it is our unique flora and fauna that we are best known for.

Our national parks and bushland reserves are home to kangaroos, emus, bats, possums, echidnas and many unique and endangered animals.

Don’t wait for Spring to visit, there are wildflowers all year round. However, the Little Desert is renowned for its orchids from August - November.

If you love painting, photography, sketching as well as exploring our flora and fauna, you will find yourself captivated and want to stay longer or to return. There are accommodation and camping options and you are always welcome. You don’t need much to make this an experience of a lifetime, just a hat, lots of water, your camera, your bird and flower books and maybe your 4WD (though there is plenty to see without one). And bring your sense of adventure because you will want to explore the whole region, and your family and friends because an experience like this is even better shared.
