Waste and Recycling Bins

Residential Waste Collection
Hindmarsh Shire residential properties are subject to compulsory collection services for waste and recycling. These services are comprised of:
1x 120L red-lid garbage bin (for general waste)
1x 240L yellow-lid recycling bin (for mixed recycling)
1x 120L purple glass bin (for glass recycling)

Rural Waste Collection
Roadside/kerbside mixed recycling collection is not available for most rural properties. Some rural addresses may be eligible for a roadside/kerbside general waste collection, subject to existing routes and nominated collection points. To determine if rural collections are available for your address, please contact Customer Service to discuss. Ph: (03) 5391 4444

Please note waste collection service charges appear on your annual rates notice. For more information on how the waste charge is calculated go to our rates page.
Additional bins may be purchased; additional service fees are then added to the rates notice accordingly.

Purchase or Replacement Bin Fees
120L general waste/glass bin: $81.00
240L general waste/mixed recycling bin: $102.00
Lid Replacement (120/240L): $28.00 *subject to availability

Replacement Bins and Lids

If your bin or bin lid is lost, broken or damaged, please our Customer Service team on (03) 5391 4444 to discuss replacement options. 

We will need to know:

  • whether it's a clip or pin attachment (see below)
  • the size/volume of the bin: 120L (small) or 240L (large)
  • if it is for Garbage (red) or Recycling (yellow) or Glass (purple)

Lid Replacement (120/240L): $28.00 *subject to availability
*please note that clip-style bins and lids are no longer available, therefore if your bin or lid is clip-style and is damaged beyond use, you will be required to purchase a whole replacement bin unit.
