About the Role

This is a newly created role following the Hindmarsh Shire Council commencing direct delivery of community pools for the 24/25 season. The Team Leader Pools will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pools across 4 sites (Nhill, Dimboola, Jeparit and Rainbow), including ensuring adequate staffing levels. The role is a seasonal, permanent engagement - it will be full time each year for the “pool season” (approximately late September until March).   

About You

Leadership skills, enthusiasm, organisation skills and willingness to be flexible are all traits required for this position.  Your experience in leading small teams and rostering will be transferable to this position, and it will enable you to excel in this role. Experience in a similar role in a pool or leisure centre will be looked upon favourably, however, most training will be provided upon commencement.

  • Pool Lifeguard and First Aid qualifications or ability to obtain - required
  • Pool Plant Operators Certificate (Aquatic Technical Operator Certificate) – preferred.
  • Experience supervising a team of staff in an aquatic or leisure/recreation services environment carrying out daily operational duties.
  • Ability to provide effective customer service and respond to enquiries from the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health and Safety principles as they apply to aquatic environments.
  • Sound judgement in relation to safety and escalation of issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical, police check and Working with Children Check.
  • Current Australian Driver License
