Manager Economic Development and Tourism
Permanent Full Time
Salary commencing at $115,654 p.a. (plus superannuation)

To support Hindmarsh Shire Council’s Vision is to have a ‘Competitive and Innovative Economy’ we are looking for a motivated and strategic leader to head our Economic Development and Tourism team. 

The Manager Economic Development and Tourism is responsible for Council’s activities relating to investment attraction, investment facilitation, job creation and small business development to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the community.  This role will lead the development and implementation of Council’s Economic Development Strategy and Tourism Strategy.

To be successful in the role, you will build strategic relationships within our organisation and with other business and government bodies to progress initiatives in the economic development and tourism spaces.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Commerce or Business Development or equivalent job-related experience in Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience applying strong business acumen to developing and implementing strategies that grow commercial businesses, and significant exposure to, and an understanding of economic and political influences likely to affect sustainable economic development outcomes in regional contexts.
  • Previous management experience including high level of initiative, innovation and demonstrated ability to drive individual and organisational improvement and change management strategies.
  • Strong financial management skills in relation to budgeting, contract management, and delivery of projects and expenditure within budget.
  • Demonstrable experience in working innovatively and identifying and fostering the use of new technologies to facilitate economic sustainability, adaption, growth, and diversification.
  • Proficiency at senior level in advocacy, partnering with government, businesses and community and managing strategic projects including analysing and reporting on economic activities and development trends. Understanding of the legislative environment that this position and Council operates within.
