Hindmarsh Shire Council are hosting drop–in sessions across the Shire to discuss the new Destination Management Plan (tourism strategy) for the region.

Wimmera Mallee Tourism and Grampians Tourism have recently joined forces to become one of Victoria’s first Visitor Economic Partnerships (VEP) supported by the State Government of Victoria.

This is a significant opportunity for Hindmarsh, as the Shire has not previously been represented directly by a Regional Tourism Board. The formation of the Grampians Wimmera Mallee Visitor Economy Partnership heralds a new era of tourism growth and opportunity in this region.  Hindmarsh Shire businesses, attractions and community organisations will be able to tap into greater industry development support and marketing opportunities as part of this change.

A part of this transition is the development of a new Destination Management Plan (tourism strategy) that will become the key document guiding the priorities and operations of the VEP. The plan will highlight key attractions, projects, and opportunities, along with addressing challenges and gaps in our tourism industry.

Be part of this journey by attending one of the drop-in sessions listed below, and have your input in the development of the regional strategy:

TUESDAY 28 MAY 2024

  • 10:30am – 12noon: Nhill Memorial Community Centre, 77-79 Nelson Street Nhill
  • 2:00pm – 3:30pm: Old Dimboola Shire Hall, 101 Lloyd Street Dimboola
  • 5:15pm – 6:30pm: Jeparit Memorial Hall, 10 Roy Street Jeparit

WEDNESDAY 29 MAY 2024

  • 9:30am – 10:30am: Rainbow MECCA Supper Room, 15 Federal Street Rainbow

These sessions are not only for those directly involved in tourism operations, but all those interested in promoting our Shire and bringing more visitors to our towns to support all local businesses.  If you are unable to attend, you are encouraged to leave your details with Council so that the consultants responsible for hosting the sessions can follow up with you directly.
