Pavement and Drainage Works Complete at Nhill Aerodrome
Published on 15 November 2024
Following a recent safety concern at Nhill Aerodrome Hindmarsh Shire Council was successful in obtaining funding to upgrade the Pavement and Drainage in the Emergency services taxiway and patient transfer area.
Works included, removal of old broken and non-functioning drains, removal of poor-quality sub surface material, reconstruction and stabilisation, new concrete drainage, re sealing of taxiway area, and line marking to current Civil Aviation Standards.
The funding for this project was received through the Federal Governments Regional Airports Program, round three. The works follow on from the successful works recently undertaken to upgrade the Aerodrome lighting using round two of the same Federal Government funding.
These essential works have improved access and safety for aircraft, operators and passengers using the Nhill Aerodrome which provides essential services like Air Ambulance, Police Air wing, CFA aerial bombers, and local operators and pilots.
