Nhill Town Committee

As a result of encouraging community support at the Nhill Town Committee meeting on Monday 18 March 2019, Nhill’s iconic events such as the Friday Family Fiestas, Christmas Carols and Easter Egg hunt may be saved.

Following recent publicity that the Nhill community may lose some of its iconic events because of the declining membership base of the Nhill Town Committee, a number of potential new members attended the meeting and indicated their willingness to join the committee and assist in organising and running events and activities.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said, “Town Committees are an important conduit between the community and the Council and while it has been disappointing to see the shires largest town struggle to attract people to join the Nhill Town Committee it was pleasing to hear that a number of potential members attended the last meeting”.

Cr Ismay added “Whilst it is important to have members on organising committees such as Town Committees, it is equally as important to have people willing to assist at events and activities in order for them to continue. I therefore encourage residents to offer whatever assistance they can”.

The nominations of people who stated an interest to join the Nhill Town Committee will be endorsed at the next Hindmarsh Shire Council meeting on Wednesday 10 April 2019.

The next Nhill Town Committee meeting will be held on Monday 15 April 2019.
