Join the Hindmarsh Shire Council Plan 2025-2029 Community Panel!
Published on 21 March 2025
Hindmarsh Shire Council is calling for community members to apply for the Council Plan 2025-2029 Community Panel. The Community Panel is a deliberative panel, meaning that you'll learn about things that matter to you, ask questions of staff and Councillors and debate opportunities and ideas for the Council Plan. You will work together as a group to share ideas and make recommendations to Council on what should be included in the Council Plan.
The panel will include around 20 people who reflect our diverse community. To make sure we have a mix of people from all walks of life, we will select people to be on the panel who represent our community across age, gender, cultural background and where they live. All Hindmarsh Shire residents 16 years and over are invited to apply.
The Community Panel will involve 1-2 meetings held by a facilitator. We'll ensure it's a safe, fun and inclusive setting for all members. You can bring a support person and people under 18 years will need to bring an adult guardian. We will aim to assist with transport and will provide snacks, and tea/coffee/water. The venue will be accessible - you are welcome to visit to check accessibility arrangements before the panel. We are happy to discuss help or adjustments you might need and ask you to register as a first step.
You can submit the Expression of Interest form available at www.haveyoursay.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au/hindmarsh-community-panel or contact us on (03) 5391 4444 and we can assist in submitting one on your behalf.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay, said “I encourage everyone who cares about their community – whether it be businesses, roads, public parks, sporting facilities, playgrounds or events – to apply for this panel. Developing the Council Plan happens once every four years, so this is a rare opportunity to feed into Council’s key strategic planning document.’
