Hindmarsh Shire Libraries, in collaboration with Public Libraries Victoria, is excited to once again host the Warm Winter Read program in 2024!

The Warm Winter Read aims to encourage all readers, but particularly adult readers (16+), across Victoria to create healthy reading habits. This may include listening to audiobooks on your commute to work, whilst walking the dog or when completing household chores. It’s easier to find time than you think- swap scrolling time for reading time or simply replace one episode of a binge-watch with a chapter or two of a great book!

As the temperature drops, we want you to make time for yourself and encourage you to visit our libraries and find a warm, comfy corner to immerse yourself in your favourite read. Hindmarsh Shire Libraries has new books (including large print), audiobooks, e-audiobooks, and e-books available to our members.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Brett Ireland said, “the concept of the warm winter read program is a great initiative to encourage our residents to still come out in the winter and engage with their community even in the cold winter months.”

Cr Ireland continued “along with our newly established ‘Jigsaws of You’ launch whereby you can go and tackle jigsaws depicting local places and surrounds, there’s an opportunity to keep connected this winter.”

The Warm Winter Read campaign will run from 1 June 2024 to 31 August 2024, and all participants who register and track their achievements throughout this time and be in the running to win some ‘bookish’ prizes!
