At the Council Meeting held on Wednesday 27 November 2024, an update was provided on the progress of action items contained in the Council Plan for 2024/2025. The Hindmarsh Shire Council Plan 2021-2025 is a four-year document that guides the Council’s operations and makes sure we’re working on projects and services that matter to the community.

Some key achievements for July – September 2024 include:

  • Significant community engagement including 134 Facebook posts, 29 Advertisements in local newspapers, 28 media releases, 3 monthly newsletters, 1 quarterly newsletter delivered to letter boxes, and 7 fortnightly e-newsletters.
  • FRRR Classic Movies delivered in Nhill, Rainbow and Dimboola, with more screenings scheduled in 2025.
  • Progress supporting delivery of the standalone kindergarten in Nhill and Dimboola in time for term 1 2025.
  • Youth events including discos, school holiday programs, podcast recordings and the VicHealth swimming program.
  • Progress on Davis Park AFL-compliant changerooms and undercover seating (groundworks currently underway).
  • Progress on solar heating for the Dimboola swimming pool (completed in time for commencement of 2024/2025 season).
  • Installation of glass, recycling and waste bins in Nhill, Jeparit and Rainbow.
  • Business networking session in Dimboola and progress on the Economic Development Strategy.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay, said “throughout the July to September 2024 period, we’ve seen significant progress in implementing our Council Plan including extensive community engagement, delivering memorable community events like the classic movies in Nhill, Rainbow, and Dimboola, and hosting successful youth events.”

Cr Ismay continued “these initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment of working together to be a connected, inclusive and prosperous community for all.”
