Hindmarsh Shire Libraries is pleased to announce that published author Graeme Gibson will be touring the Wimmera, with a scheduled stop for an author talk at Nhill Library on Monday 4 September 2023, from 1pm.

Graeme has recently had two books published, which are a memoir and a guide to memoir writing.  Graeme writes that everyone has a story to tell and writing a life story is something many people plan on doing – one day.  “In Life there is Luck” is part memoir on memoir writing:  a story of personal growth, from the dismal and disinterested to the aware and inspired, linking personal experiences to the universal, offering connections to the wider world.

Graeme has also written for people interested in writing their life stories, knowing that people lack the confidence or know how to start.  His guide provides a focus on the major principles of memoir, such as narrative writing, ethics and structure, along with tips and writing techniques. There are also suggested writing exercises to help people start on their own memoir writing journey. Graeme will have copies of his titles available for purchase on the day.

Graeme is particularly interested in letting people know that memoir writing is not just for older people:  Memoir is a slice of life and everyone has slices of life to write about.

Hindmarsh Shire Libraries is proud to offer their library users, residents, and visitors another wonderful opportunity to listen to a published author and their experience in writing and publishing, with the hopes of encouraging the opportunity for people to get creative and tell their own stories.
