Published on 28 June 2021

Dr Anne Webster MP, Member for Mallee will be in Dimboola on Thursday 1 July to officially open the recently refurbished Old Shire Hall in Dimboola.

The official opening of the refurbished building to be known as the Dimboola Community Civic Hub will be held at 9.00am either at the Dimboola Community Civic Hub in the forecourt or inside depending on weather conditions.

Hindmarsh Shire Council received funding of $600,000 through the Federal Government’s 2019 Community Development Grants Program to undertake refurbishment works following the construction of the new Dimboola Library / Customer Service Centre.

The Dimboola Community Civic Hub will be a multi-use facility that can be used by businesses and community organisations for meetings, exhibitions, training and educational purposes as well as library events and functions.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said, “The refurbishments to the circa 1860’s built Old Shire Hall has come up really well, and as it is linked to the new library and customer service centre, the entire facility will have a positive effect for the Dimboola community”.

“If any Dimboola residents have not yet visited the new library and customer service centre, I encourage them to attend the opening of the Dimboola Community Civic Hub as they will be able to see how the Old Shire Hall building and the new library have been linked to create a fantastic community space”.
