Rainbow Caravan Park Redevelopment

Rainbow Caravan Park

The first stage of the Rainbow Caravan Park redevelopment has been completed with Hindmarsh Shire Council purchasing an adjoining block of land to expand the parks footprint.

The block of land located at 2 Railway Street Rainbow, is adjacent to the entrance of the caravan park and will be the site for the installation of the first on-site accommodation unit. This is anticipated to be installed by May 2022. The unit will be positioned on the Rainbow Recreation Reserve side of the land.

Due to the relatively easy access to the land, it is planned that additional temporary powered sites will be installed on the site as well. The powered sites will be relocated as additional accommodation units are installed and other areas of the caravan park are redeveloped.

Hindmarsh Shire Mayor, Cr Melanie Albrecht said “The investment and expansion of the Rainbow Caravan Park is a reflection of Council’s commitment to growing tourism in Hindmarsh.”

Council is making amendments to the master plan that was developed for the Rainbow Caravan Park to incorporate the additional land and new locations for the accommodation units.

Cr Albrecht said “With funding secured for the Llew Shilling Silo art transformation, we are confident that when completed this addition to the Silo Art Trail will be a major drawcard for tourists to visit Rainbow. The Rainbow caravan park is a vital piece of the tourism strategy, to accommodate the visitor numbers we hope to see.”
