Nhill Streetscape Masterplan Draft for Public Comment
Published on 10 May 2021
A Nhill Streetscape Masterplan draft developed by Thomson Hay Landscape Architects is now open for public comment.
The masterplan is part of a broader series of masterplans developed for Wimmera Mallee Tourism through a Federal Government Building Better Regions Fund project. The Masterplan aims to provide greater links between the Nhill shopping precinct (Goldsworthy Park), Jaypex Park and Nhill Lake along with beautification of these three key areas. This in turn will increase visitor attraction and longer stays in Nhill; leading to more visitor spend at our local shops, hospitality services and attractions.
The draft masterplan was developed from initial consultation and public feedback in March 2021. The project reflects and compliments discussions already underway between Council and Regional Roads Victoria around pedestrian safety upgrades in the shopping precinct. It presents a 10 year vision, which once finalised for Wimmera Mallee Tourism will be presented to Council for review and endorsement. The masterplan will allow Council to explore grant opportunities to implement stages of it.
The Nhill Streetscape Masterplan Draft is open for comment from Wednesday 12 May and closes at noon on Friday 21 May. Copies of the masterplan are available online at https://www.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au/have-your-say and hard copies are available at the Hindmarsh Shire Customer Service Centre. Comments can be made online from the website page, emailed to info@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au or written feedback forms are available at the Hindmarsh Shire Customer Service Centre.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Ron Ismay said “Through this Wimmera Mallee Tourism Project, a strong ten year masterplan will be developed for upgrading Nhill’s streetscape, Nhill Lake, and improving connectivity and experiences for locals and visitors”.
