New Street Furniture for Hindmarsh Townships
Published on 01 February 2021
Hindmarsh Shire Council are excited to announce the installation of new street furniture in Dimboola, Jeparit, Nhill and Rainbow over the coming weeks. The project is part of the Victorian State Government’s COVID-recovery assistance program to support food and hospitality vendors to increase outdoor dining capacity.
The project will see the installation of picnic table and chair settings across the Shire, including twenty 1.8 meter all-access-friendly tables with table legs positioned to allow wheel-chair access.
Council will also be installing ‘park pods’ throughout the Shire. These self-contained table and chairs offer more shelter than traditional picnic settings plus the flexibility of moving and relocating to other sites. The first two pods will be located in Goldsworthy Park. These will add a unique and modern attraction enticing travelers to stop and check them out.
For added assistance to businesses, Council has waived street furniture permit fees for dining and takeaway hospitality businesses.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Ron Ismay said “Council thanks the Victorian State Government for this outdoor dining initiative. We are excited to be installing extra picnic settings and the new park pods to facilitate more opportunity for locals and visitors to continue to support local food businesses as they recover from COVID impacts”.
