Electronic Vehicle Charging Stations for Jeparit and Dimboola
Published on 11 October 2021
Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to announce that another Electronic Vehicle Charging Station has been installed in Jeparit, in addition to the Dimboola Charging Station which was installed in September.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said “It is great to see our small towns having new services for electronic vehicles. The charging stations take about 1 x hour to charge, and will encourage tourists to stop and charge in our towns exploring our wonderful attractions and businesses”.
The charging stations at Dimboola and Jeparit have been chosen by Linga Network in partnership with Baidam Solutions due to the culturally significant areas in Dimboola and Jeparit. Dimboola was the first charging station to be installed as a part of guiding Electronic Vehicle drivers along a route named ‘Songlines by Baidam’. This route in time will extend from Torquay to Port Fairy, and eventually across the border into South Australia.
Caity Randall, co-founder of Linga Network stated “As an EV network, our primary objective is technological progression and infrastructure deployment executed in a thorough and robust manner. As a strong advocate for community cultural awareness, I’m particularly pleased that we can combine establishing our high coverage, regional network with a meaningful user experience, respecting First Nations land and culture. Working with Baidam Solutions will ensure our cultural competency and that we pay respect and honour the culture and heritage of First Nation communities.”
Ms Randall continued “Through support of Baidam Solutions education programs, we are creating a social return on investment via direct funding for ICT scholarships”.
