2021 Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council

Hindmarsh Shire Council announced their 2021 Youth Council with a certificate presentation on Wednesday 3 March 2021 at the Nhill Memorial Community Centre.

Hindmarsh Shire Council CEO, Greg Wood welcomed all in attendance before Hindmarsh Shire Mayor, Cr. Ron Ismay, congratulated the successful applicants on their appointment to Youth Council. Mr Wood then introduced each new youth councillor with the Mayor presenting certificates and name badges recognising their new roles. The 2021 Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council is made up of 3 returning and 9 new members, along with the 2021 Young Citizen of the year.

The Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council for 2021 is West Ward: Lani Elliot, Alexis Farmers, Alissa Trenery, and Alexis Bone, East Ward: Amaya Woodward, Tarah Bond, Jandamurra Lauricella, and Natalie Jenns, North Ward: Tessa Leach, Celie Fuller, Heidi Smith and Charlee HarbergerFischer. Also in attendance was Jack Kalms, who is the 2021 Hindmarsh Youth Citizen of the year.

Cr Ismay said, “It was fantastic to welcome our 2021 Youth Councillors. Our Youth Council has achieved many great initiatives and activities since inception including holding FReeZA events including pool parties and discos, and informing Council of priorities for youth including the importance of Skate Parks which resulted in skate park facilities in the four towns in Hindmarsh.”

Cr Ismay continued, “We look forward to the development of a new Youth Strategy during 2021 and cannot wait to see the outcomes and initiatives that the 2021 Hindmarsh Shire Youth Council come up with."
