Help for Hindmarsh Community Groups

Published on 14 September 2020

Due to the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Hindmarsh Shire Council is providing additional assistance to community groups and sporting clubs that utilise Council owned facilities by waiving fees and costs associated with building insurances.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Rob Gersch said “Council is fully aware of the impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on community groups and sporting clubs. A decline of membership and a reduction in usage of facilities are just two impacts that have been felt.”

“Council is pleased to provide some assistance through the waiving of fees and costs associated with building insurances which is a cost that normally passed on by Council’, said Cr Gersch.

Cr Gersch added “I am aware that some clubs and organisations are faced with expenses of up to $50,000 to keep their premises and facilities going throughout the year. Without any income, this is a significant financial burden, so it is pleasing that Council is able to assist in reducing the financial expense of building insurance”.
