The new Dimboola Customer Service Centre and Library is a great space for you to visit with the space being more than just a place to borrow books or pay a bill.
Hindmarsh Shire Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said “we encourage the community to utilise this space. The Dimboola Library has been designed with the community in mind.” He continued “Not only are libraries places for learning and discovery, but libraries are places to bring people together.”
Hindmarsh Shire Libraries offer access to a range of items including books, DVD’s, e-resources including movies. Dimboola and Nhill libraries offer access to free public Wi-Fi, and in the future, once works are completed, there will be a meeting room and public space in Dimboola. Hindmarsh Shire Libraries offer safe spaces for social interaction, digital connection and lifelong learning.
This week, Dimboola Customer Service Centre and Library welcomed Maternal and Child Health Nurse Judy Harrington and several new mothers and their children. Coordinator Library Services, Whitney Kingston said that she was delighted to have the new mums and their children in the library to begin their long journey of reading and literacy and develop those community connections. “I hope that this is just the beginning of a long-term relationship between community groups and their use of the Dimboola Customer Service Centre and Library.
Hindmarsh Shire Libraries encourage children to pop down to their local library and collect a Christmas STEM activity pack. Packs include many science, technology, engineering and maths activities from dissolving candy canes and making peppermint oobleck to designing Santa’s zip line. These packs are perfect to keep the kids entertained during the holiday period.
For more information on utilising the space, please contact Whitney Kingston, Coordinator Library Services, on 03 5391 4444, or email libraries@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au.
