Cultural Diversity Week 16-24 March 2019 – Share your story!
Published on 18 January 2019
Hindmarsh Shire Council and West Wimmera Health Service are working together to celebrate Cultural Diversity Week in 2019. To be held from 16 to 24 March 2019, the theme for this year is ‘Proud to Belong - Your Story, Your Generation’.
Hindmarsh Shire Council Mayor, Cr Ron Ismay said “as a way of celebrating multiculturalism and diversity, we extend an invitation to members of the community to share your story on multicultural heritage and identity. This program will be delivered in a similar method to the highly successful and well received ‘Faces of Hindmarsh’ project”.
“Cultural Diversity Week is a fantastic way to celebrate the everyday diversity of Victorians and reflect on what gives us all a sense of belonging in our multicultural community. At least 29 different nationalities currently reside in Hindmarsh Shire. Within Victoria almost half of Victorians were either born overseas or have at least one parent who was born overseas” concluded Cr Ismay.
For more information or to discuss participating please contact Michelle Farinha, Community Development Officer, via community@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au or Casey Hiscock, Refugee Community Health Nurse, via casey.hiscock@wwhs.net.au prior to Sunday 3 March 2019.
