The purpose and general purport of the proposed Hindmarsh Municipal Local Law is to:

  1. Regulate and control uses and activities of Council buildings, land and reserves, allowing for public enjoyment of Council places and protecting Council assets by providing minimum standards of behaviour and managing risks;

  2. Promote the health and wellbeing of the people living in the municipal district and to provide a safe and healthy environment that gives the residents of the Council’s municipal district the opportunity to enjoy a quality of life that meets the general expectations of the community;

  3. Prohibit, regulate and control activities that may be dangerous, unsafe, detrimental or undesirable to the quality of life in Council’s municipal district;
  4. Control nuisance caused by noise, odour and smoke emissions, and other discharges to the environment which may adversely affect enjoyment of life, health, safety and welfare of persons within Council’s municipal district;
  5. Regulate the keeping of animals within the municipal area and protect their welfare, including providing for the movement of livestock being driven, grazed or kept within the municipal area;
  6. Provide a system for applying for Permits where a Permit is required;
  7. Provide for the administration of the Council's powers and functions;
  8. Provide generally for the peace, order and good government of the municipal district in a way which enhances the environment and quality of life; and
  9. Revoke Local Law No. 2 of 2014. 

Hindmarsh Governance Local Law

The purpose and general purport of the proposed Hindmarsh Governance Local Law is to:
  1. Regulate and control the use of the Council’s common seal;
  2. Provide for offences in the event of inappropriate conduct at Council meetings and meetings of Delegated Committees, and for offences in relation to the misuse of the common seal; and
  3. Revoke Local Law No.1 of 2014.

Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025

The Domestic Animals Act 1994 (the Act) requires council to prepare a Domestic Animal Management Plan (plan) every four years. The plan must set out a method for evaluating whether the animal management services provided by council are adequate to give effect to requirements of the Act and the Domestic Animal Regulations 2015.

Dog Attack Procedure 2022

The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that Council deals with dog attacks promptly and professionally and in accordance with the Domestic Animal Management Act 1994 (Act) to ensure that Council is keeping the Shire safe.
